SolarCity opened a new, 9,600ft² operations center in Seaford, Delaware, this week.
SolarCity previously offered limited service in the area from operations centers in Maryland and New Jersey. The new location will allow SolarCity to better service Delaware along with the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland.
"SolarCity provides Delaware homeowners and businesses the option to reduce their utility bills, lock in their solar energy costs and do something positive for the environment at the same time," said Leon Keshishian, SolarCity’s regional vice president on the east coast. "We can give many Delaware customers the opportunity to save money from day one by using cheaper, cleaner solar electricity."
SolarCity is expanding to Delaware in large part due to the efforts of the state, including its strong support of fair net metering policies and a cost-effective renewable portfolio standard. SolarCity makes it possible for many homeowners to install solar for free, and pay less for solar electricity than they pay for utility power.
SolarCity’s approach has made it America’s leading solar provider — the company is currently providing approximately one in every three US residential solar electricity systems, according to GTM Research’s US PV Leaderboard, released earlier this month.
