The news agency has quoted Ali al-Dabbagh, spokesman of the Iraqi government, as saying: The ministry of electricity can buy them without delay.
Quoting Aziz Sultan, a spokesman for the electricity ministry, Reuters has said that four of the eight generators will be of 150MW capacity and the remaining of 40MW each.
At least one generator is expected to be installed in Najaf and one in Taji while the remaining will be used for Baghdad.
The smaller generators are expected to be delivered in the next four months, Mr Sultan has said. Currently, Iraq generates 5,000MW of power a day against a demand of 9,500MW.
