The news source reported that Korea Gas (Kogas) has been in negotiations with Gazprom over importing around 1.5 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the latter’s Sakhalin-2 project in Russia.
Kogas and Gazprom are also reportedly in talks over the joint construction of an LNG liquefaction plant and a gas chemical complex, according to the news source.
Dow Jones quoted a senior Kogas official as saying that Gazprom is anticipating export volumes of eight to nine million tons of gas to South Korea by 2020, as part of its long-term plan.
