Aker Solutions has said that the new operations base is purpose built for undertaking testing and service of subsea control modules and trees. The facility also contains an engineering team and will function as the Australian head office for Aker Solutions’s subsea business area.

Additionally, the new base reportedly complements the existing offering of the subsea manufacturing center in Malaysia, which is a key provider to the subsea industry in the Asia Pacific.

The new Aker Solutions base in Perth covers approximately 7,000 square meters. It has an office building; workshops, including a test pit and client storage facilities and is located in close proximity to the Perth International Airport.

Raymond Carlsen, executive vice president for Aker Solutions, said: Asia Pacific is the world’s fastest growing region when it comes to subsea field developments. We are raising our game in this region, and our new facility in Perth is part of our strategic plan to offer our customers local back-up and operational support.
