The news source reported that the interest by the two firms in the land around the existing Welsh nuclear power plant is concurrent with the British prime minister Gordon Brown’s decision to build eight new reactors in the next 15 years to replace existing ones.
The site is owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), which has confirmed that there are several other interested bidders for the property.
Bill Hamilton, NDA spokesman as quoted by the news source, said: The NDA can confirm we have received expressions of interest in land next to Wylfa and will make an announcement shortly. Those expressions have come from a range of companies.
