The Hillabee facility is a partially completed 774MW natural gas power plant located in Tallapoosa County near Alexander City, Alabama. Constellation Energy purchased Hillabee from Calpine, as part of a court-approved auction in February 2008.
The Hillabee facility is approximately 80% complete, and is expected to be operational in 2010 when permitting, construction and commissioning are finalized.
Mr Padgett will move to Hillabee from Constellation Energy’s Rio Bravo Poso and Rio Bravo Jasmin facilities, two coal-fired power plants located in Bakersfield, California. He has served as plant manager of the two California plants since 2007.
Dale Linaweaver, managing director of east region for Constellation Power Generation, a subsidiary of Constellation Energy, said: We are taking the necessary steps to safely and promptly move the Hillabee project toward commercial operation by 2010. Appointing Tony as plant manager is another step toward achieving that goal.
