The SSF well struck moderate gas bearing sands in the Baisakhi and Bedesir sequence structures. It has been defined by various 2D seismic lines and is known to carry numerous contingent resources.
Focus Energy is now in the last phase of its work programme in the block. The operator has asked the ministry to extend the petroleum extension license (PEL) for the onshore block on account of the excusable setbacks.
The request stems from difficulties faced by the contractor in gaining statutory clearances and permits from the government of Rajasthan, which resulted delays in implementation of the minimum work programme of the pre-NELP block.
The company is anticipated to carry on the drilling campaign and increase its seismic coverage of recognized prospects as existing discoveries are put on production in the block by mid-2009.
The SSG-1 well, planned to a terminal depth of 3,500 meters, will look for the Pariwar formation in mid-Indus basin in the block. The ZJ-70-1 drilling rig is drilling the well now. This well would be the last to be drilled in the Rajasthan acreage.
