“We intend to coordinate the details shortly and start the construction,” Putin said.
“The victory of a Russian-Turkish consortium in the tender to build Turkey’s first NPP opens wide opportunities for our countries. Both sides are evidently interested in the project,” Putin said.
The plant will be constructed on the Mediterranean coast near Akkuyu. A consortium made up of OJSC Atomstroyexport, Inter RAO UES and Turkey’s Park Teknik participated in the tender.
In May 2009, Turkish nuclear authorities ruled that the consortium’s tender proposal which included the construction of four 1,200 MW power units was in line with all technological criteria.
