K. K. Jha, director (Pipelines) of the company confirmed the development. “A team is working on the concept project of a new LPG pipeline from Paradip to Haldia,” Jha said.
According to a top official the new pipeline will be discussed at the next board meeting scheduled October 2009. The total length of the pipeline will be more than 700 kilometers and the estimated cost of the pipeline will be close to Rs 1,400 crore,” the official said.
“The ground level survey for the project has been completed. If the board approves the primary feasibility report, a final report will be prepared with more specific details in another four to six months. We expect to get the complete investment approval by the end of the present financial year,” the official said after the complete approval of the project.
IOC will take early 30 months for construction of the pipeline. The new LPG pipeline is expected to become operational by mid-2012.
