The Home Minister said the programme would also help in generating about 19.50 million person-days of employment for both skilled and unskilled workers in the country along with improving the sanitation in rural and semi-urban areas.
The NBMMP, Chidamabaram said, will have some special and innovative features, including competitive bidding on pilot basis for setting up biogas plants.
