The contract, for operations in the Danish Sector of the North Sea, has an initial duration of one year and is scheduled to begin in early 2012.
Maersk has options to extend the contract, which has an initial value of $35.7m, for about three further years.
Northern Offshore president and CEO Gary Casswell said this award, in conjunction with Energy Endeavour contract announced in February, secures the company’s second rig in Denmark and represents an improving market in the North Sea for this rig class.
The contract for the jackup Energy Enhancer is subject to approval by the Danish Energy Authority.
Northern Offshore operates offshore oil and gas production and drilling vessels in various markets across the globe.
