Lockheed Martin will provide design, manufacturing, system integration and supply chain management expertise to enhance OPT’s PowerBuoy technology.
OPT has completed construction of the Oregon PB150 PowerBuoy’s steel structure, while testing of the advanced power take-off and control system is in process at the company’s production facility off the coast of Oregon.
OPT said that the assembly, systems integration and land testing of the PowerBuoy will occur over the next several months.
This collaboration follows a $2.4m contract awarded by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to OPT as part of the DOE’s initiatives to promote the development of renewable marine energy.
