The well, which is located in the company’s Gora Concession, is designed to test the unconventional gas potential of the Carboniferous sediments.
San Leon will drill the well to a total depth of 3,500m and the well has been designed as a stratigraphic test that will include an estimated 400m of core and an advanced geological and geophysical evaluation program.
According to the company, the Carboniferous sediments are believed to be the source rock for the significant gas production in the overlying Permian Rotligendes and Zechstein formations in Poland.
