The new substations will replace an existing installation and will connect the existing Portlands Energy Center generation station.

ABB will deliver 115kV gas-insulated and air-insulated switchgear, surge arresters, transformers, and cables.

The company will also be responsible for the system studies, design, engineering, supply and installation of the substations, including civil works.

According to ABB, the project is scheduled to be completed by 2013.

Hydro One Networks is the power transmission and distribution utility of the Canadian province of Ontario, and it owns and operates 96% of Ontario’s transmission network.
