Australia-based power market simulation software provider Energy Exemplar has unveiled new power market simulation software.
The software, called as PLEXOS for Power Systems (PLEXOS), can be employed for power market modelling, simulation and analysis.
Energy Exemplar said PLEXOS offers price forecasting, power market simulation and analysis, operational planning and optimisation, trading decision support, strategic modelling and decision support, generation and transmission capacity expansion planning and renewable integration analysis, among others.
The company noted all the functions can be performed for short term purposes and long term from 10 to 40 years.
PLEXOS products come in two types where one is a Desktop Edition with graphical interface and all the simulation and analysis functions and features.
Another Connect Client-Server Edition is the data management programme that is an extension to the Desktop Edition and used for centralised storage, distributed computing, multi-user access rights, data sharing, version control.
Both the Desktop Edition and Connect Client-Server Edition are annual licenses where the former uses a third party optimisation solver.
The company stated customers can choose from one of the four commercial solvers including CPLEX, Xpress-MP, Gurobi and Mosek, all of which are inbuilt and installed as part of PLEXOS.
By the beginning of 2012, worldwide installations of PLEXOS exceeded 630 at over 135 sites worldwide.
