The deal includes the supply of seven subsea production trees, seven wellhead systems, two integrated protection structures with manifolds, and additional controls and equipment.

FMC Subsea Technologies senior vice president Tore Halvorsen said, "Statoil has made significant technology investments for Gullfaks, which is Europe’s largest fixed-platform subsea tie-back development."

Gullfaks South, to be developed as a fast-track project in blocks 34/10 and 33/12 in the North Sea in water depths between 130 and 220m, consists of the Gullfaks South, Rimfaks and Gullveig fields.

The oil production and related liquids with subsea installations will be tied back to the Gullfaks A platform and gas production to Gullfaks C.

FMC said the equipment is designed for diverless drilling, installation, operation and maintenance located at a water depth of 140m.

The equipment will be developed at the company’s operations in Norway and Scotland with deliveries slated to commence in the second quarter of 2013.
