The substation represents the southern end of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s (PGCIL) 765kV Raichur-Sholapur transmision link, which has recently been commissioned, thereby synchronizing the Southern Grid with the northern, eastern, western and north-eastern regions (N-E-W) grid.
The commissioning fulfills India’s ambition of one nation- one grid-one frequency.
BHEL has designed, engineered, manufactured, supplied, erected, tested and commissioned the 765/400kV substation package at Raichur for the project, which enables import of electricity from other regions to the Southern region during peak demand, as well as export of surplus power from the Southern region during off-peak demand.
The company is currently associated in the execution of the world’s largest ±800kV, 6000MW ultra high-voltage multi-terminal DC transmission link between North East and Agra, India.
