The bacterial process, which is suitable for converting the type of biomass-to-biofuel, puts the company at the forefront of the international competition for second generation biofuels derived from non-food biomass.

Having started the Deinol project in 2009 and partly financed by French innovation bank Bpifrance, Deinove has developed a better alternative to oil and gas fossil fuels, demonstrating the technological and economic viability of its production process.

Additionally, the company has started a test campaign in medium-sized bioreactors up to 300 liter capacity and, after completion, will move to the industrial stage in 2015.

Deinove CEO Emmanuel Petiot said with an alcohol titer at 9%, the company is well above the objectives it set at the launch of the Deinol program.

"We are delighted to have obtained results that could impose a new production standard in a world market as important as that of 2nd generation biofuels.

"Manufacturers around the world have strong interest in our solution and in the light of discussions with several of them, we believe we will shortly be able to announce partnerships in several areas of bio-based chemistry," added Petiot.
