The projects are part of the Alta Wind Energy Center and their completion will bring its total installed capacity to 1,320MW, with an approximate 1,020MW currently operational.
Southern California Edison will purchase electricity from each of the projects following the terms of power purchase agreements that extend to 2035 and the projects will interconnect and utilize its Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project.
MidAmerican Wind president Tom Budler commented that the two projects make an excellent addition to the company’s growing portfolio of renewable energy assets.
"With the addition of this 300-megawatt wind project, MidAmerican Renewables’ portfolio includes more than 1,250 megawatts of owned renewable energy assets, enabling us to help meet the need for energy generated from renewable resources," said Fehrman.
