Pursuant to the agreement, O2 will be responsible for project development, construction and financing, while Tornator will assist in planning and environmental matters.
The projects will be built mainly on Tornator’s land but other landowners may also be included.
Tornator real estate manager Antero Luhtio said the company was asked many times for areas for wind power production, but it wanted to find a partner who also has the resources to implement the projects.
"O2’s sustainability values regarding environmental aspects and stakeholder involvement are a good match with our ways of working," added Luhtio.
O2 has developed large-scale onshore wind power projects in the Nordic region and majority of them have been realized with support from financial institutions including Allianz and FAM Wallenbergstiftelsen or major electricity users including IKEA, Google, property companies and municipalities.
O2 country manager for Finland Teemu Loikkanen said, "O2 started to develop wind power projects in Finland in 2012. Our projects are mainly located on private landowners’ land in Western Finland.
"Signing an agreement with one of the largest forest owners in Finland, Tornator, gives us interesting opportunities to expand our project portfolio in Finland."
