The JV named AMEC Samsung Oil and Gas (ASOG) will provide design engineering services for the fixed and floating offshore platforms, the floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSOs), and the subsea pipelines for Samsung’s future offshore oil and gas projects.
Under the ASOG, AMEC will provide its design engineering services and offshore project experience whereas Samsung will extend its project management expertise and shipbuilding technology.
AMEC Oil & Gas Americas president Andy Sallis said, "The ASOG joint venture will provide Samsung a wealth of broad-ranging and in-depth expertise for offshore projects."
Samsung is planning to use the joint venture company for future front end engineering and design (FEED) and detail design of offshore project and increase its ability to meet its offshore business demands.
ASOG will be owned 51% by Samsung and 49% by AMEC.
