The project will enlist a total cost of INR920bn ($167.9m) and will be spread over an area of 500a in Paramakudi taluk.
Expected to be developed under the recently annouced state energy policy the project marks first solar park under a public-private partnership in India.
Tamil Nadu’s Solar Energy Policy 2012 aims to develop projects with an installed capacity of 3,000 MW by 2015.
The project is scheduled to complete within 12 months and generate 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
According to an official release, the solar park would have installed infrastructure to facilitate other investors to develop more such projects under public-private partnership.
The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), which is a part of this project, has been entrusted with the task of developing 1,000MW of solar power park projects in five years by the Tamil Nadu government.
