The Elster EnergyAxis Smart Grid solution will enable Westar to conduct real-time monitoring of its electricity grid, allowing the utility to provide customers with additional insight into their daily energy consumption and manage power outages, Westar said.
EnergyAxis will be a key component of Westar’s SmartStar project that is expected to be completed over the next three years.
Westar executive vice president of public affairs and consumer services Jim Ludwig said that the EnergyAxis Smart Grid solution allows Westar to realize savings through improved insight and management of its electric delivery system.
Elster is a provider of advanced metering infrastructure and integrated metering and utilization solutions to the gas, electricity and water industries.
