The planned total depth of the well is 4,000ft and is anticipated to intersect multiple objectives that include the primary oil shale along with excellent potential in the Simpson and Wilcox formations.
Wilcox is considered one of the most prolific producers in the area and nearby existing analogous production has cumulatively produced 80,000 barrels of oil per well.
The Wilcox wells often deliver initial production rates in excess of 100bopd-120bopd with 200mcf of gas.
The NOJ26 well will incorporate oil shale analysis tests to optimize the stimulation program in order to maximize commercial production, the company said.
If the stimulation procedure returns flow rates as suggested by preliminary data, it is estimated that the well can potentially be a 200 plus BDP producer, and American Petro-Hunter is a 50% partner in the well.
