The energy contracts are under the Millennium Challenge Compact, which was signed between the governments of the US and the United Republic of Tanzania in 2008.

Symbion and Pike were already working collaboratively on three separate projects valued at nearly $19m in Tanzania.

Collectively, the companies have been awarded nearly $84m in distribution power line projects including engineering, material procurement and construction.

The Millennium Challenge Account, run by the US based Millennium Challenge Corporation, is a bilateral development fund created in 2004.
