The new plant, which commenced construction work in 2012, has been built to replace two hydro plants that had been in operation for more than 100 years.

Kaukauna Utilities general manage Jeff Feldt said, "This is definitely an investment for the future, for our kids, for our grand kids."

"It’s an investment in the economic and the environmental quality in the Kaukauna area," Feldt added.

According to the utility, the new plant will have a production capacity that is said to be 25% greater than the two previous hydro plants combined.
