Initially, the well produced a large quantity of water when the completion of this well began over a month ago.
Further testing suggested a poor cement bond between the casing and lower water bearing sands allowing the water to migrate up the casing and into the well bore.
After ‘squeezing’ with additional cement and successfully re-perforating the same interval, the well has produced water-free at rates of between 90 and 110 barrels of oil per day for the last three weeks.
This well was the first of three successful wells in the OK-6 project to be completed.
The company said that additional well completion will take place over the next several weeks.
Brinx also plans to participate in the drilling of several development wells offset earlier successful and currently producing wells at OK-6.
