<p>Eprimo is fully owned by regional power company UWG, a joint venture between Stadtwerke Mainz and RWE Energy. Each company owns 50% of UWG. RWE Energy will now be able to take over Eprimo, and said in a press release that the company intends to expand its nationwide retail activities through Eprimo's online system.<br /><br />Dr Andreas Radmacher, chief sales officer of RWE Energy, said: We are gearing up for the further intensification of competition for retail customers, mainly resulting from the end of price regulation. The move to take over this innovative price model will strengthen our competitive position in the long term. <br /><br />RWE Energy added that Eprimo, which generates annual revenues of around E100 million, would also help the company to address price-conscious consumers. Dr Radmacher commented: Eprimo is RWE's attractive internet-based offer to customers who do not expect a wide range of services. <br /><br />RWE said that Eprimo is designed to complement the traditional offerings of the company's regional companies, which distinguish themselves by being close to their local customers. The utility added that, having been given the go-ahead, it will now work on integrating Eprimo into its business portfolio.</p>
