The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is purchasing the renewable energy generated by the system under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The solar power will be used by the city and the county of San Francisco’s municipal services and facilities such as airport, lightrail and city buildings.
San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom said that the solar power system, which consists of 24,000 panels, more than triples San Francisco’s total solar generating capacity.
