Alstom said that the order comes after China Nuclear Power Engineering Company, a subsidiary of Chinese utility China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company (CGNPC), and Dong Fang, signed an agreement for the design, manufacturing and supply of the steam turbine-generator packages.

Patrick Kron, chairman and CEO of Alstom, said: This new order puts Alstom and its partner Dong Fang in a good position to continue to take part in the ambitious nuclear power generation program in China.

This new project involving Alstom’s proven reliable ‘Arabelle’ steam turbine technology confirms Alstom’s leadership in the design and integration of conventional island technology for nuclear power plants both in China and worldwide, Mr Kron continued.

Alstom has been CGNPC’s and Dong Fang’s industrial partner since the construction of Daya Bay, the first large Chinese nuclear power plant, 20 years ago.
