SpinCo, the term used to identify the new company yet to be named, will be a new independent publicly traded company. In addition, SpinCo and Entergy Corporation intend to enter into a nuclear services joint venture, with equal ownership.
The new entity will have an initial capacity of 5,000MW concentrated mostly in the northeast US. The entity will have ownership of five nuclear power plants. The new company can be expected to make acquisitions or project itself as a takeover target, according to Entergy.
