Work in the area has been ongoing for more than a year as part of Powerlink and Energex’s long-term planning to meet continued electricity demand growth in the northern end of the Gold Coast.
Energex’s CEO Terry Effeney said that the homes and business in suburbs including Arundel, Parkwood, Ernest, Molendinar, Nerang, Ashmore, Benowa and Carrara, will benefit from the increased electricity capacity and reliability delivered in the project.
Gordon Jardine, chief executive of Powerlink, said: The project included removing aged equipment due for replacement, and rebuilding the 110kV section of the substation, including installing two new 110kV transformers.
