TenneT is building and expanding the existing Vierverlaten high-voltage station at Westpoort Industrial Park at Hoogkerk Groningen with a 380 kV high-voltage station. This involves an investment of more than 40 million euros.
On the new 380 kV part of Vierverlaten station, the new 380 kV connection from Eemshaven will be connected. The new connection is needed to transport all power generated in the Eemshaven area and at sea to users in the Netherlands.
Through the new 380 kV station, the current is further transported by the existing 220 kV high-voltage grid. Six new transformers convert the current from 380,000 Volt (380kV) to 220,000 Volt (220kV). After the expansion with the 380 kV part, the high voltage station is one of the larger high-voltage stations in the Netherlands.
Design plan Eemshaven-Vierverlaten
The Rijkscoordinatieregeling (RCR) procedure for the 380 kV connection Eemshaven Oudeschip and Vierverlaten is still ongoing. This week, the Ministers for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure and Environment publish the draft plan for integration that makes the connection possible spatial.
TenneT has already taken a number of preparations to build the station. The necessary land (about 10 hectares or 20 soccer fields) has already been acquired and various cables and pipes have been moved. The commissioning of the station is scheduled for 2021.
Mission SPIE
SPIE provides TenneT with the realization of building the ground up to commissioning of the new 380 kV high-voltage power station. The control and protection of the existing 220 kV high-voltage station will be integrated into this. For civil engineering work SPIE works with Dura Vermeer and Friso Bouwgroep.
The construction of the 380 kV station Vierverlaten is the largest assignment in the field of high voltage stations for SPIE.
