Energy industry source Platts has reported that a feasibility study for the plant has been performed by German engineering consultant Fichtner and an environmental impact assessment has been carried out by Exergia.

Greek gas monopoly Depa is to co-operate with Endesa Hellas to build a gas pipeline to the proposed plant. The Spanish-Greek joint venture is also keen to construct two more combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants.

Platts reported that Endesa Hellas expects to operate up to 1,600MW of CCGT plants in Greece. It also plans to expand its footprint across southeast Europe by seeking opportunities in clean coal, renewable energy, power trading and carbon trading.
