The new operating entity for this project is Oak Grove Power Producers. Other parties involved in the project include Westar Energy, which is providing electrical interconnection services and Kansas City Board of Public Utilities that is purchasing the Green Power as well as the Renewable Energy Credits from the project.
The site features a 2,300 horsepower 20 cylinder caterpillar 3520 generator, which has been altered to accept landfill gas. Approximately 1.6MW of renewable energy is estimated by the EPA to power roughly 1,000 average sized residential homes. The plant started operating in March 2010.
