The graphite benzoxazine resin will operate at a continuous temperature of 120degC.
A bismaleimide resin has been developed for power and back-up power applications. The resin is flame resistant and will provide the fuel cells with good thermal and electrical conductivity, a low ionic content. It can be applied in continuous high volume manufacturing procedures using conventional prepregging techniques.
The resins have been developed in combination with GrafTech International Holdings Inc. and forms part of a U.S. Department of Energy sponsored program. The cells have already undergone extensive testing. The cells are anticipated to be available in late 2009 or in early 2010.
