The company intends to open a turbine blade factory, with initial production capacity of 300MW, in the Indian state of Gujarat this year and will localize production of its G9X-2MW turbine in the country in 2012.
The proposed factory will make blades for the G5X-0.850kW turbine and may produce components for higher capacity machines such as the G9X-2MW in future, the company said.
Gamesa also plans to open additional manufacturing plants in India in coming years to produce nacelles and towers via joint ventures at several locations in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu states.
The company began production at its first Indian manufacturing site about a year ago, and this facility near the city of Chennai in southeast India makes the G58-850kW turbines.
