Cavico stated that the tunnel, which will connect the water intake and the pressure shaft, will be approximately 3.1 miles long with a diameter of 12 to 14 feet. The construction firm plans to begin work on the tunnel by the end of January 2008.

The Dambri hydropower plant is located 87 miles northeast of Ho Chi Minh City in the Lam Dong Province of Vietnam. Owned by South Hydropower, the $80 million plant will have a 75MW capacity.

Hieu Phan, vice president of Cavico, said: We are pleased to have been awarded this important project, our second one at Dambri. Last July, we began construction on a 12.21-mile service and access road valued at $3.75 million.
