Petrol Plaza reported that Benzina plans to extend its network of filling stations by acquiring existing units and building new ones. Benzina is reportedly modernizing its 320-odd filling stations across the country.
According to Mr Vleugels, recession concerns in the US will affect the petrochemical industry in Europe but Unipetrol will be relatively unaffected due to its position in emerging markets.
Czech Industry Ministry statistics indicate that there were 3,099 public filling stations in the country in the first half of 2007, according to the Petrol Plaza report. Benzina competes with Cepro, OMV, Shell and PAP Oil in the Czech retail fuel market.
