The project included the installation of a new Barotac Viejo substation, the expansion of Dingle substation, and the installation of a second circuit – the 138kV line from the Barotac Viejo to Dingle in the province of Iloilo.
NGCP, the country’s sole power-lines concessionaire said the project, which is amounted to PHP624.3m ($15.3m), was contracted out in May 2010 and completed in November 2012.
Previously, NGCP said it has plans to invest PHP95.8bn ($2.34bn) in the next five to eight years in upgrading the country’s power-lines network, reports Business Mirror.
The Cebu-Negros-Panay (CNP) 230kV line is among the seven major transmission projects in pipeline scheduled to be put up in the next eight years.
The CNP project is expected to address the anticipated 420MW generated in new capacity in Panay from 2011 to 2016.
According to NGCP in urban areas, as the power demand grows, the supply will become a challenge because of the difficulty in acquiring the right of way for the new lines and substations.
