New Braunfels Utilities has awarded a contract to Willbros T&D to remove 4.9km of existing power line and install nearly 6.1km of new transmission line. Slated to begin in February, the project is expected to be completed by May 2013.
Xcel Energy Services, on behalf of Southwestern Public Service Company, has awarded a contract to Chapman Construction to construct the first 167.3km of a 321.8km single circuit 345kV transmission line project in the Texas Panhandle.
Construction work for this project is likely to commence towards the end of the second quarter and installation of wire will be done in the second half of 2013.
Willbros president and chief executive Randy Harl remarked about working with Xcel Energy and New Braunfels Utilities to support their expansion efforts.
"These awards demonstrate progress towards our strategy to expand our transmission capabilities and presence in Texas and the surrounding states," Harl added.
