The research lab will focus on the further development of smart grids and super grids, which are key elements and a prerequisite to integrate renewable energy in the future energy system.
DNV chief technology officer Bjørn Haugland announced that the opening of the research unit at World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
DNV Research & Innovation head Theo Bosma noted that DNV has about 2,300 energy experts.
"With the establishment of the strategic research unit in Arnhem, we will be able to capitalize on all this expertise and experience," Bosma added.
"We will also invite external parties to work with us so that we together can create opportunities.
"As far as known, this is the only research center in the world that concentrates on smart grids and super grids exclusively."
