WellDynamics noted that the two-zone completion, a first for Star Deep Water in Nigeria and offshore West Africa, will balance production between zones and control water encroachment into the wellbore.
The firm said that the installation of the field’s first SmartWell completion marks a successful planning phase that includes managing and integrating technologies from multiple vendors.
The field development plan consists of 20 oil producers, 12 water injectors and six gas injector wells with flow control and permanent monitoring. The single-wellbore completions are expected to produce from, or inject into, two distinct sand units.
The completion will consist of WellDynamics’s Direct Hydraulics system with the Accu-Pulse downhole control system, multi-position interval control valve with customized flow trim, packers and downhole gauges, as well as a multi-phase downhole flowmeter and an automated surface control system.
