The awards include contracts to provide various simulator upgrades for customers in the US, Korea and Europe and to provide engineering services and simulation technology for waste treatment cleanup facilities under construction at the Hanford site in Richland, Washington.

In addition, the company received a contract to develop simulator models for Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Company (GNPC) in China that will allow validation and verification of GNPC’s CPR-1000 instrumentation and controls design as well as for use in control room human factors studies.

Among the new contracts are projects to implement the company’s RELAP5-HD code, bringing to thirteen the number of installations utilizing this solution for simulating the intricate phenomena of a nuclear reactor core.

The Department of Energy (DOE) is undertaking an unprecedented project to clean up nuclear waste through a vitrification process which combines the waste with molten glass to provide a safe, long term storage solution.

The initial sub-contract is to provide GSE’s simulation tools and evaluate the current simulation capabilities and future tasks towards building simulators for numerous separate facilities at the site.
