StatoilHydro said that this will boost activities in the group’s five defined research programs, while preparing for purposeful co-operation with other Norwegian research communities.

During the months following the merger, StatoilHydro has prepared a joint R&D portfolio based on the individual technology strategies and portfolios of the two former companies.

In this new portfolio, StatoilHydro seeks to capture synergy from the merger, while allowing for challenges related to future growth. The portfolio is divided into exploration, oil recovery, new development solutions, oil and gas value chain and new energy.

Svenn Utengen, head of StatoilHydro’s technology strategy, said: The adjustments that have been made also bring us one step closer to the group’s new technology strategy which is being developed and will apply from 2009. This strategy will give us the opportunity to use our new and strengthened position to set a course that will bring us one step ahead of the challenges we foresee.
