The coal properties include Black Diamond in Manitoba, Hudson Bay North in Saskatchewan, and the 49 North Resources (FNR) JV coal property in Manitoba.
The JV coal property’s mining rights are held jointly by Westcore and 49 North Resources with Westcore serving as the operator.
The surveys will be conducted by Canadian airborne survey company, Fugro Airborne Surveys which include falcon airborne gravity gradiometer (agg) and high sensitivity magnetic total field survey covering 1,768 line-kilometers on three different blocks.
A portion of Westcore’s Hudson Bay North property will also be surveyed with airborne gravity for the first time by airborne Geotem electromagnetic surveys and the area will cover potential coal targets previously delineated in 2008 and 2009.
The results of these airborne surveys will be used to help plan subsequent stages in Westcore’s ongoing exploration program in Saskatchewan and Manitoba which are expected to commence in early July.
Westcore president and CEO Paul Conroy said on completion of the airborne surveys, the company hopes to identify new targets on land and ultimately aid with resource definition in already proven areas.
