An optimization study completed on the project, has supported an enhanced production plan made possible by the construction of a new concentrator and paste backfill plant.
According to the study, the total estimated cost of the Lalor project, including the new concentrator, is $704m.
The new ore concentrator will be constructed adjacent to the previously planned 985m production shaft, and will have capacity of 4,500 tonnes per day.
HudBay is expecting to start the construction in early 2013 and has scheduled to complete it in late 2014 to coincide with the completion of the production shaft.
