The Tortue project comprises a floating gas treatment facility, subsea gas production, a nearshore hub facility and a pipeline with domestic gas connection points.
The hub facility will help convert gas into LNG. It will also be used for providing breakwater-protected berths for a floating LNG production unit and for overseas export of LNG by ship.
CH2M’s preliminary front end engineering design (Pre-FEED) deliverables would help in making final decision on the location of the hub, layout, and the construction form and method of the inshore hub.
The Colorado-based engineering company will also support marine operations and project execution planning.

CH2M was awarded the contract by KBR, which in turn is the engineering services contractor for the Tortue development.
BP, along with its partner Kosmos Energy, are expected to invest several billion dollars in the project which is expected to produce its first gas by 2021.
The giant Tortue field has been estimated by Kosmos to have gas reserves of over 15 trillion cubic feet (tcf). It is part of the 33,000km2 of acreage covered by the partnership between BP and Kosmos in offshore Mauritania and Senegal.
