The exploration block overlies the southern tip of the Mandera Basin while its southwest corner extends into the Anza Basin.
According to the company, the Block 2A, which comprises approximately 7,801.72 sq km, has potential for significant oil and gas discoveries.
Simba Energy said it will immediately start re-interpretation of all available existing data on the block.
The company will also begin baseline environmental work to support the design and planning of a new seismic acquisition program.
