The 120MW wind project, planned over an area of 8,800 acres in S.E. Alberta, is being developed through its subsidiary Renovalia Energy Wind Canada, and is estimated to have annual generation capacity of 360,000MWh catering to power requirement of 50,000 average households.

Renovalia CEO Jaime Galobart stated that the Peace Butte project is the company’s eleventh wind project in its portfolio of over 600MWs of projects currently in either operation or construction.

"We are thrilled with the support offered to us by the local residents and landowners and appreciate the excellent work and cooperation during the permit approval process that we have received from Alberta authorities, among them the Alberta Electric Systems Operator (AESO), Cypress County and transmission facility owner Altalink LP," added Galobart.

With this approval, the company plans to commence the construction of the project in early 2014 with plans to achieve commercial operation by fourth quarter of 2014.
